Shalaine has been a fitness instructor since 2010. She teaches Zumba, Zumba Gold, Aqua, Sculpt/Weights, Kickboxing, Boot camp, HIIT/Tabata, Piloxing/Barre, TRX, Silver Sneakers, cycle, and can sub most formats.
She is a Master Instructor with Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), NASM Certified Personal Trainer, and has been a speaker at IDEA World, IDEA Personal Trainers Institute, FIBO USA, NASM Optima, APEX Asia, multiple Zumba conventions and cruises.
It is her passion to educate and to inspire people to become more active in a fun, safe, and sustainable way.

In the late 80's Shalaine discovered group exercise. Fast forward twenty years. She was now a mother of two, and worked full time in sales on a trading floor for 10 years. She had stopped exercising after college and gained weight sitting all day at a desk. She was extremely stressed from her investment banking job and living in Greenwich, CT. She was taking blood pressure medication and already had two ER hypertensive crises.
After the second scare, she joined the gym, found Zumba and was hooked. About two years later, her job and family slowly started monopolizing her time and had stopped going to the gym because again, she put herself last. It took the death of a co-worker to turn her world around and for her to realize only she can prioritize her health.
Shalaine became a Zumba instructor in 2010 and started teaching classes as a way to schedule in time for exercising. The energy and smiles of the participants? She finally found her passion. She practiced all the time, at work during breaks, in the elevator, at lunch, and to the embarrassment of her kids, during carpools and at home...all over, and all the time. She became AFAA certified in 2012 and immediately started attending fitness conferences getting certified in multiple formats.
She was hired by AFAA in 2018 to give their 8 hour practical workshops & speak at conferences. Again, she found another calling--training the trainer! When the lightbulbs go off and participants are excited again about group fitness, she feels such joy and rightness of being “at the right place.” She finds fulfillment in changing lives through fitness, whether it’s through improving the lives of people in her weekly classes, group exercise Instructors in her trainings, attendees at conferences, or people overseas during service trips.
